In Hong Kong

1964: Position vacant. Accounting clerk, school leaving standard English, able to type, make fast accurate calculations with an abacus. Salary $350 a month.

1965: Governor Sir Robert Black arrived in London to represent Hong Kong at the funeral of former prime minister Winston Churchill. The service was broadcast live on radio and television.

1966: More than 120,000 people went to China for the Lunar New Year festival between January 1 to 27, the Guangzhou authorities said. Most of the visitors were overseas Chinese.

1969: About 7,000 government pensioners would get ex-gratia increases of eight per cent in their pensions, back-dated to April 1 the previous year, the Government announced.

1971: The World-Wide Shipping Group placed a US$205 million block order with eight shipyards in Japan for the building and delivery of 15 ships between 1972 and 1974.
