Leading Indian software services company Satyam Computer Services has made its official mark in China, with the establishment of a development centre in Shanghai.
The move yesterday could be the spark to generate a new wave of Indian high-technology investments on the mainland, said company chairman B. Ramalinga Raju.
The centre provided a good beginning, and there would be more companies from India that would want to be engaged with the mainland, he said.
Establishment of Satyam's development centre comes hard on the heels of Premier Zhu Rongji's recent visit to India.
Satyam's partner for the China Software Development Centre is Shanghai Pudong Software Park, set up by the Ministry of Information Industry and the city government.
Both sides stressed that the co-operation was a win-win situation and that Sino-Indian ventures would complement each other.
They would create a healthy type of competition, which could only be mutually beneficial.
