La Salle College boys are confident of retaining the team title after their powerful performance at the Inter-School Individual Squash Tournament last Sunday. The school's students picked up gold and silver medals in the boys' Grade A event and a silver in Grade C. National squad member and top-ranked junior in the SAR, Dick Lau Siu-wai, won the gold medal in the Grade A category, defeating his classmate and national teammate, Patrick Choi Tung-yin, 3-2. La Salle had a second chance to strike gold in the Grade C final, but Fung Tsz-cheong was unable to match the form of Lee Ho-yin of SKH Simon Lui Ming Choi Secondary School. The boys' Grade B gold was won by Kwong Yu-shun of Aberdeen Technical School. Siu-wai's sister, Karen Lau Siu-ying, also faced a national squad teammate in the girls' Grade A final. Siu-ying, a student at Heng Seng School of Commerce, won a tight match against Connie Choi Man-shan from Jockey Club Ti-I College. Chiu Ka-kei, normally a Grade C player, put in a terrific performance in the girls' Grade B to win the gold despite her inexperience at that level. 'Her coach at the Belilios Public School didn't want her to compete in the same category as her classmate,' said Hong Kong Squash Association spokesperson Iris Chung Suet-mei. Chan Ho-ling, also a student of Jockey Club Ti-I College, picked up the gold in the girls' Grade C, indicating that the girls should do well at the Inter-School Team Squash Tournament on Saturday.
