'Monster' Fred Li decried at forum
An alternative forum conducted by legislators boycotting Mr Tung's question-and-answer session yesterday developed into a shouting match between hardline and moderate democrats on whether to take part in the election process.
The lunchtime forum, hosted by the Coalition Against Second Term in Statue Square, Central, attracted fewer than 30 bystanders and at one point only a handful of participants.
Former Democrat Tsang Kin-shing, who is now a member of the Social Democratic Forum, labelled Democrat Fred Li Wah-ming, who attended Mr Tung's session, as a 'monster' who was helping the Chief Executive's campaign.
'That monster has joined the puppets' event . . . his participation only gave face to Tung and it was a show,' Mr Tsang said.
Democrat Albert Ho Chun-yan, who did not take part in Mr Tung's session, said: 'Although it is acceptable for some of us to go and the decision should be respected, I would rather stay here than join the rich and powerful club.'
Mr Li said he did not support Mr Tung, but went to his session because he wanted to voice his opposition from the inside. 'I have notified my party and they never banned any of us from going,' he said.
