The Hong Kong League XI team to play in this month's Carlsberg Cup will, for the first time in years, be dominated by local players. However, Hong Kong coach Tsang Wai-chung believes they have a 'good blend' of Chinese and expatriate stars. Hong Kong Chinese players number 12 in the 20-strong squad for the Lunar New Year tournament. 'I think it's a good blend of both local and foreign players. Our first training session went very well. It's basically the same make-up as the Guangdong-Hong Kong Cup,' said Tsang. 'Our training has been adequate but it could be better. However, we should try to a find a way to strengthen our forward line.' The local team's last game ended in a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Guangdong in the Guangdong-Hong Kong Cup last month, although Hong Kong won 3-2 on aggregate. Tsang wants to see Hong Kong more goal-hungry, adding: 'Our forward line is not good enough and we just have to find a way to strengthen it, especially as we have to play China in the Carlsberg Cup in our first game [February 12].' Yesterday's training session at So Kon Po didn't go without a hitch. Rangers midfielder Cornelius Udebuluzor sustained a thigh strain during the work-out but he is expected to be back in action after a few day's rest. South China goalkeeper Chan Ka-ki has been called up into the Hong Kong League XI for the Carlsberg Cup for the first time, while teammate Yau Kin-wai makes a return to the squad after three-year break.
