A six-lane road in the city of Huizhou in Guangdong has been named LG Dadao (Grand Road) after South Korean electronics manufacturer LG Electronics.
The city government gave LG the right to rename Xia Jia Dong Ru, located in the cultural district of the city, in recognition of the company's contributions to the local community.
The factory, which is the city's largest volume exporter, has reportedly donated money to local old people's homes and funded university scholarships for young students.
LG also received permission to install roadside advertisements along the 1km road, which it can claim the name to indefinitely.
In return, the company donated a 28.8m clock tower to the city.
Huizhou hopes to establish a reputation for itself as the 'Digital City of China', and the LG clock tower is intended as a visual centrepiece to support the new image.
