Direct route

I REFER to Mr Peter C. L. Shan's letter (South China Morning Post, June 30), headlined, ''Bus service a long time coming''.

There is in fact a direct KMB bus route 271 between Fu Heng Estate/Chung Nga Court and Tsim Sha Tsui running at 10/15 minutes headway during peak periods from Mondays to Saturdays.

This route has been in operation since June 1992.

This bus service will be further strengthened by extending to whole-day operation by the end of this year.

In the meantime, residents may continue to make use of KMB route 71B, which is charging an extremely low fare of $0.70 to Tai Po Central for express services to the urban area in the off peak period.
