Heroin dealer jailed for 10 years

A TAILOR arrested for dealing in heroin outside Wan Chai Police Headquarters was yesterday jailed for 10 years at the High Court.

Mr Justice Bewley was told by defence counsel that the place was a notorious drug trafficking area.

Wong Kwok-hoi, 42, had admitted two counts of trafficking in a dangerous drug, involving more than 560 grams of a heroin mixture.

Senior Crown Counsel Paul Leung said Wong was seen picking up a plastic bag from a flower bed near Fleet Building at the junction of Gloucester Road and Arsenal Street on September 17 last year.

He was stopped by police and a bag containing 52 grams of heroin mixture was found in his pocket. A further 513 grams was discovered in his Aberdeen home.

He admitted selling drugs for someone called Ah Keung. He sold about four bags a day, earning $250.

His counsel, Luke McGuinniety, said Wong had been a slave to heroin since 1973 and was not the prime mover in the crime.
