An eight-year-old banned from leaving home by his uncle tried to climb out of their flat to meet his friends - from 31 floors up. Clinging to pipes, Lau Chun-kit climbed down four floors before being rescued outside the 27th floor of the Wing Fai Centre, Ma Sik Road, Fanling. Police and firemen were called just before 1pm, when a shocked resident saw the would-be Spiderman clambering down the building. The boy, whose parents are divorced, was being cared for by his uncle, who had banned him from going out. Telling his uncle he was going to the bathroom, Chun-kit then climbed out the window, taking with him scissors to cut through washing lines blocking his way. Before he was seen by firemen, he had climbed down more than 15 metres of pipes, but the neighbour said he did not appear frightened. After realising the boy had been in the bathroom for more than 30 minutes and seeing the open window, his uncle, who feared he had fallen, also called police. Chun-kit was pursuaded to climb inside at 1.17pm. 'The boy said he wanted to go down to play. There's nothing suspicious about the incident,' a police spokesman said.
