The most vocal critic of Mr Tung's decision to run for a second term said last night the Chief Executive was 'utterly hopeless' and his re-election had no legitimacy.
Emily Lau Wai-hing, convenor of the Coalition Against Second Term and a lawmaker with The Frontier, said: 'He has not listened to our calls, such as for constitutional reform, at all. He has no legitimacy, no popular mandate and is not qualified to govern.'
Another pressure group said Mr Tung's re-election would not stop them agitating for policy changes.
Mary Yuen Mee-yin, spokeswoman for the Joint Conference on the Chief Executive's Policies in the Second Term, said it was now important for Mr Tung to 'listen to the views of the people'.
'Now that he is re-elected, he should not just make a show of things while neglecting his real job: to care for the weak and Hong Kong people's welfare,' she said. 'If he accepts open dialogue with us it would be a good start.'
