Musical boundaries are there to be pushed and a new Hong Kong-based collective are planning to make a major dent in them over the next three weeks. Noisefloor are musicians, DJs and electronic music makers from the SAR and Australia. The experimental group will be creating live sets of techno and breakbeat at various venues throughout the city.

Noisefloor comprises DJ Mick Hart, percussionist Neil Irwin, bass-guitarist Nick Lesick, who are all based locally, along with didgeridoo player and vocalist Nathan Kaye and scratch master DVS Dviser, who are both from Australia. DVS Dviser is also a graffiti artist who will be hurling graffiti art around as the band play.

'We'll be trying out all sorts of different stuff, from hip-hop to breakbeat and four-four beats,' says Hart, from local breakbeat night Beatsuite. 'We practised in Australia at Christmas and are doing some long rehearsals here to get it right on the night.'

Noisefloor are recording their efforts so they can head into the studio and record a three-track EP. The group hope to follow the lead of tech-duo Digital Cutup Lounge whose gigs with live musicians proved successful last year and led to the release of their debut album.
