I read with interest the article 'Harbour may be safe for swimming again' (South China Morning Post, February 19). I will cheer the day when it actually comes. I remember as a kid, I was able to see the sea bed from a ferry.

My office overlooks the Causeway Bay typhoon shelter. I still see boats dumping fuel waste into the water and sewage pouring in. I would not touch the water with a 10-foot pole. I must say, however, compared to last year, we do have more days when the water is greenish rather than yellowish grey.
When our harbour turns blue again, I will swim in it, despite my age.
