Tomson Group plans to begin construction work this year on four new property projects in Shanghai involving a total floor area of 940,000 square metres.

Executive director Hsu Feng said the Hong Kong-listed developer would continue to expand its property business in Pudong, Shanghai, in light of the anticipated tight supply of flats in the area.

Ms Hsu said the Shanghai government changed some of its land sale rules last year to allow developers to secure land through public auctions, instead of through private acquisition only.

The stable land supply would have a positive impact on property prices in Pudong, she said.

Ms Hsu expected flats prices in Pudong could rise 10 per cent to 15 per cent this year.

The company's new projects this year included a 210,000 sq metre low-rise development in Sanba He, a 120,000 sq metre high-rise development in Lujiazui and Tomson Golf Garden phase seven in Pudong.
