LIQUID crystal display (LCD) maker Yeebo Semiconductor is considering listing to fund expansion of mainland production. Chairman and managing director Makie Hui Po-yuen yesterday refused to elaborate on the plans. He said Yeebo had opened a 60,000 square foot factory in Jiangmen for LCD production, involving a total investment of US$8 million to $10 million. The company had already invested $3 million in the plant, which was expected to be at full capacity by the end of this year, he said. The new plant can make coated glass - the most expensive raw material for LCDs. Mr Hui said the in-house production of coated glass would cut costs and the threat of price fluctuations.
