I refer to the obituary by Kevin Sinclair of former chairman of the Swire Group Peter Sutch (South China Morning Post, March 8), who died on Wednesday. A lifespan of 56 years is considered extremely short. For most people it does not give enough time for them to accomplish all the goals they have set themselves. However, in spite of his very short life, Peter Sutch, who was everybody's friend, more than filled his quota. He had the effect of harmonising the world around him while performing his assignments and achieving the best possible results. I felt profound admiration for this noble man and am still trying to cope with such a great loss. RUDOLF VOLL Kowloon
