LIFE ain't all that bad for Rick O'Shea, the DJ who appears to be on permanent muster on FM Select's graveyard shift - when, ahem, the station operates on a skeleton staff. Feeling that Rick could do with some sunshine and fresh air, kind and caring Metro boss Craig Quick is dispatching the nocturnal jock to Mauritius, an Indian Ocean paradise where the climate is sure to return the colour to the poor guy's cheeks. But there seems to be some reasoning behind this largesse. While out there, we are told, he will have to break off from sipping tropical cocktails and chatting up nubile locals to call the station every now and then and go live on air in his customary mid-Atlantic drawl, telling us all about the delights of the island idyll, and what a sweat it all is. (Unless, of course, the sun takes a hand in matters and bestows him with amnesia, causing him to forget the FM Select telephone number. This has been known to happen.) All in all, nice work if you can get it, eh?
