A native English teacher provided vital tips for students on how to improve their language skills during English week at Sheung Kwai Chung Government Secondary School's 30th anniversary held recently.
'Think positively, read what interests you and enjoy participating, are the three secrets of success in learning English,' guest-of-honour Katerina Green, the school's former native English teacher, said at the opening ceremony.
Ms Green recounted how she overcame the difficulties of learning English as a foreign language and made practical suggestions on how students could improve their English.
Principal Pang Kin-wai stressed the importance of English as a useful communication tool and how attitude plays an essential part in language learning.
He urged students to take every opportunity to use English for communication with teachers and schoolmates in English week activities.
To mark English week during the school's anniversary year, new events were included - a sight reading competition and general quiz for senior forms and a verse- recital competition for the junior forms.
