Shaolin Soccer top-scores at awards
Shaolin Soccer took the honours for best film and best director for comedian Stephen Chiau Sing-chi last night at the Golden Bauhinia film awards.
Chiau's co-star, Wong Yat-fei, walked away with the best supporting actor award for the film, which has been bought by US film company Miramax to go on general release in New York and Los Angeles next month.
The best actress award went to Sylvia Chang Ai-chia for her role in Forever and Ever - beating Sammi Cheng Sau-man, who was widely tipped for Love on a Diet . Cheng was also nominated in the category for two other films, Fighting for Love and Wu Yen.
Mainlander Hu Jun won best actor for his role in Lan Yu and Josie Ho the best supporting actress award for her part in Forever and Ever.
Shrek was voted best foreign film, followed by Happy End, from South Korea, and Moulin Rouge.
It is the seventh year the Hong Kong Film Critics' Association has organised the awards, held at the Science Museum in Tsim Sha Tsui.
