Yan Chai Hospital Lim Por Yen Secondary School (LPYSS) students' days will no longer be in the hands of the weather gods after a $300,000 donation for a new hall ventilation system from Lim Por-yen. School supervisor, Chow Hau-ching, said in his welcoming speech: 'This makes an excellent learning environment possible, and is a great delight for the school to organise activities in any weather.'

Mr Chow said he was extremely grateful to Mr Lim, who had given constant support to the school for the past 20 years.

At the same time, LPYSS' parent-teacher association (PTA) was launched by its chairperson Lau Lai-kei, who highlighted the importance of communication between the school and parents.

She said the personal growth of students would be hampered if it were not for the PTA.

'It is only with the co-operation of both parties that we can provide a full and all-round education for our children.'

Her sentiments were echoed by Mr Chow, who expressed his confidence in school affairs being better managed with the welcome addition of the PTA.
