Put ads on escalator

The SAR Government is looking at various ways to increase revenue and lower the deficit.

One way of making more money would be to exploit the advertising potential of the Mid-Levels escalator. At the moment, instead of making money for the Treasury, the escalator is eating up taxpayers' money. Large sums of money are spent on maintenance and supervision.

Its commercial potential could be achieved by installing advertising displays on both sides of the escalator.

The display spaces could be put out to tender. This would also help to brighten up the escalator which looks boring at the moment.
