A MAINLAND economic watchdog group is holding talks with Financial Secretary Hamish Macleod on the Hongkong Budget for next year, says group member Vincent Lo Hong-sui.
Mr Lo said the economy sub-group of the preliminary working committee for the Special Administrative Region Preparatory Committee would discuss topics related to the smooth transfer of sovereignty on economic matters, as stipulated in the Chapter 5 of the Basic Law.
''For instance, under Article 107 of the Basic Law, the Government should strive for a fiscal balance and we will work with the Financial Secretary to ensure that his forecast complies with the provision,'' he said.
The Business and Professionals Federation, of which Mr Lo is head, will review the feedback on its recently released Hongkong 21 Report by the end of October before planning its next step.
