Ricky Martin's international hit soccer anthem Cup Of Life was the inspiration for an Asian theme song sure to get fans rocking during this year's World Cup.
Leon Lai Ming's melody, to be released by Sony on its International World Cup album next month, will become very familiar when the football extravaganza hits Hong Kong television screens in late May.
Cable TV, which has exclusive rights to broadcast the 2002 World Cup in Hong Kong, will use the local Canto-pop singer's dance tune Lay Your Love On Me during its coverage of the event.
The album features artists from countries competing at the tournament in South Korea and Japan this summer. Lai's song will be represent China, Hong Kong and Taipei.
Lai is also be the World Cup ambassador for Cable TV and will travel to meet Chinese national players in Shanghai next month.
He will accompany them throughout the soccer showpiece, which is being held in Asia for the first time.
