Scandal-linked flats on sale

A government trade association will auction two Beijing flats owned by the daughter of a former Shenyang mayor.

Mu Suixin, who was convicted of corruption-related crimes last year, is suspected of acquiring the apartments illegally.

The China Beijing Spring Season Trade Association will auction off the flats of Mu Suixin's daughter, Mu Yang.

The estimated auction price is 9,300 yuan (about HK$8,788) per square metre, an auction official said. Money raised will go to the police. The auction takes place on April 7 at the Guo Mao office-shopping complex in downtown Beijing.

The flats, on the eighth and 12th floors of the Danfo Haoyuan high-rise apartment building in the Asian Games Village area of Beijing, total 178.17 square metres, according to the Beijing Morning Post.

Ms Mu bought the flats in April 2000 for 3.38 million yuan, or 9,100 yuan per square metre, according to the Beijing newspaper.
