Former Taiwanese politician Melody Chu Mei-feng, the protagonist in a high-profile sex scandal, will be special guest at two near-sellout concerts in Hong Kong.
Ms Chu, who shot to notoriety after being secretly filmed having sex with a married lover, made her first public appearance in Hong Kong yesterday to promote the concerts, at the Coliseum on Thursday and Friday.
The 36-year-old former head of Hsinchu's Bureau of Cultural Affairs is expected to sing two songs at the concert, staged by veteran Taiwanese singers including Yeh Feng and her singing teacher, Hsieh Lae.
Ms Chu, a TV reporter turned-politician, was pursued by dozens of journalists yesterday but appeared composed and deflected all questions about the scandal.
'Every day is a new start. The future is more important,' she said.
Ms Chu was at the centre of a media frenzy in December after a tabloid magazine on the island gave away VCDs showing her having sex with a man in her bedroom. The VCDs found their way on to the Internet and black markets across Asia.
