Open book on degrees

I REFER to the letter about the possible recognition of a master degree awarded by the Asia International Open University in the second phase of the British Nationality Selection Scheme (South China Morning Post, July 13).

I should explain that the lists of educational institutions and qualifications published in the British Nationality Selection Scheme Reference Manuals are by no means exhaustive.

Hence, there is clear advice to applicants that if they hold any qualification not listed in the manuals, they should give details of such a qualification in the application form.

Such a claim will then be assessed by the relevant authorities.

Therefore, non-inclusion of a qualification in the manuals does not necessarily mean that it is not accepted under the scheme.
