Zhongda Group, a property developer and tourism company in Shenzhen, said it would buy two more 'five star' luxury cruise ships by the end of next year after its purchase of the Cruise Holiday, said to be the first such vessel in China.

Cruise Holiday, which can carry 400 passengers, offers overnight return voyages to Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour from Shekou in Shenzhen.

The purchase of the new cruise ships was one of the major projects in Shenzhen this year, company executive assistant Wu Wen said.

Cruise Holiday has attracted a fair amount of local interest since it started operating in mid-January. The company was trying to lure more businessmen, government officials and white-collar professionals, Mr Wu said.
