I support the proposal to jam mobile phone signals in cinemas, theatres, concert halls, tennis tournaments and any other places where there is a public performance.
However, jamming is a passive way to deal with this selfish act which is committed by a lot of Hong Kong people. I would also support an active approach being taken. After requesting the audience to turn off their mobile phones, those individuals who ignored this appeal should be evicted from the premises upon the first ring of their phones.
If there was an international league table of countries charting mobile-phone abuse during performances, I am sure Hong Kong would be near the top. The average Hong Kong person has very little idea of what 'consideration for others' really means. Mobile phone ringing during public performances gives a good indication of how socially responsible the people of a particular society are.
