A former driver for Canto-pop star Nicholas Tse Ting-fung's record company yesterday admitted conspiring with a police officer to falsely claim he was at the wheel of the star's Ferrari when it crashed last month.

Shing Kwok-ting, 34, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to pervert the course of justice with Constable Lau Chi-wai.

No charges have been laid against Tse, 21, or Constable Lau, who were earlier arrested over the incident and released on bail.

Outside court, a spokeswoman for the Independent Commission Against Corruption, which is heading the investigation, said a second police constable attached to a traffic investigation team had been arrested by ICAC officers on Tuesday in connection with the investigation. The constable had been granted bail, the spokeswoman said.

Prosecutor Gary Lam Kar-yan told Western Court yesterday that Tse woke Shing with a phone call at about 6am on March 23, telling Shing he had crashed his black Ferrari in Cotton Tree Drive, Central.

Tse asked Shing what he should do, the court heard, and Shing had advised the singer to leave the scene, adding that he would handle the matter.
