Student wins MTR assault case

A UNIVERSITY student studying in Canada who was accused of indecently assaulting a woman during rush hour on the MTR had his conviction quashed on appeal in the High Court.

Tse Kwok-cheong, 21, was convicted in Western Court earlier this year and sentenced to 21 days' jail.

He served seven days before obtaining bail pending his appeal against conviction.

Mr Tse was alleged to have pressed himself against a 23-year-old woman while travelling on a train between Mongkok and Hongkong Island last December.

He was arrested by a plain-clothes officer who was on the same train.
