WILL Ubud - that little corner of Bali that is forever paradise - ever be the same again? That appears to be the thought concentrating the minds of the laid-back habitues of this Elysian abode as they await a visit from the tactile, tearful and emotionally-challenged luvvies of Life Dynamics (Hongkong chapter), sometimes also referred to as New Urge Travellers. For next week they will descend on the place that put Indonesia on the tourist map to celebrate the nuptials of beauty consultant Frederique Deleage and graphic designer Victor Mehra. The respective stag and hen parties to be held at locations in Wan Chai tomorrow will set off the love-fest. But while the invitations sent out by the soon-to-be Mr and Mrs Deleage implore the guests to ''bathe in our loving happiness'', not everyone seems keen to take a dip in the enticing pool of love. Lawyer-cum-entrepreneur Gordon Oldham for one, who we understand has little time for these psychological navel-gazers. We hear his reaction to Victor and Frederique's request to marry on his lush, nine-hectare, clifftop idyll with its verdant pastures and cooling waterfalls was something on the lines of ''not Bali likely''. Instead, the ceremony will now take place, states the invitation, ''at Amir's place, going north past the paddy fields''. But despite that setback, there will be other delights lined up for the wedding guests - designated dress code: sarong kebaya - who include Brunella Bighi, Carmel Greenwood, Chris Gentry, Bradley and Debbie Gardner and Marina Bullivant (although being the sole non-Life Dynamics adherent in this company, marketing guru Marina is displaying the kind of bravery that would go down well in Bosnia). Meanwhile, if you happen to be in the vicinity of Wan Chai tomorrow night and spot a bunch of ladies prancing around in their lingerie (as they are threatening to) be not dismayed. It will just be Frederique and her hen-mates casting aside their inhibitions - a doctrinal cornerstone of Life Dynamics. And having a good time out on the town as well, of course.
