I refer to the letter from Michael Share headlined 'Why was rare seating area destroyed?' (South China Morning Post, April 23), concerning the closure of the Lan Kwai Fong sitting-out area.
This area was established in 1988. Because of wear and tear over the years, some of the facilities needed to be upgraded.
To try and minimise inconvenience to the public, we arranged for the work to be carried out in two phases so as to allow half of the area to remain open. Notices were posted at the site before the work was started. The whole project should be finished this month.
