Hong Kong has been invaded by a group of mainland Chinese intent on enjoying themselves at someone else's expense while the rest of us have to earn a crust by working.
Forget right-of-abode seekers, these are property developer Hongkong Land's million-dollar mainlanders.
The company has spent the money flying in buyers of apartments in its Central Park development in Beijing.
They are being put up at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel - Hongkong Land's sister company under the Jardine Matheson flag - and if they shop in the developer's upmarket Landmark shopping arcade they will also receive a cash rebate on purchases.
And as long as they do not decide to go for a stroll through Chater Garden they should escape Hong Kong with nothing more than a Prada handbag and a hotel bathrobe.
Smuggled pleasures: The Hong Kong police force could soon be unveiling its latest weapon in the fight against mainland contraband smugglers - the pleasure cruiser.
