The heat yesterday appeared to have gone out of a dispute between the police and the ICAC over the arrests of three police officers.
On Sunday, a police statement said the graftbusters should be 'more circumspect' and that police officers were 'deeply concerned' about other cases against colleagues last year in which charges had yet to be laid.
But last night, Police Commissioner Tsang Yam-pui said he was satisfied with a statement given by the anti-graft body in response to the unprecedented police attack.
The Independent Commission Against Corruption statement said all arrests 'are made in strict accordance with the law'. Senior police management would be briefed if any of its members were involved in anti-graft operations.
'For those cases which involve police officers but do not result in any legal action, a report will also be given to the police normally via the [ICAC's] Operations Review Committee,' it said.
A police spokeswoman quoted Commissioner Tsang Yam-pui, who was in Chongqing yesterday, as saying: 'Police are satisfied with the response of the ICAC. The relationship between police and the ICAC is good and we will continue to co-operate with each other.'
