The Legend Group makes and sells own-brand personal computers, while distributing foreign-brand computers and related products. The firm also offers systems integration services and manufactures motherboards.
According to a Sun Hung Kai Research report from just under a year ago, the mainland was seen as a potential 'nasty battlefield' as far as PC manufacturing went. The research company foresaw increasing competition from foreign computer makers in the country.
In anticipation of this, Legend planned to diversify its product range and move into personal digital assistants or mobile phones. However these new products, warned Sun Hung Kai, were unlikely to see the light for some time.
The research house was not as optimistic as Legend's management on predicted sales figures for the coming year and placed a 'sell' recommendation on the company's stock.
'It will be an uphill battle ahead,' claimed Sun Hung Kai.
