Many correspondents have complained about the lack of MTR services to Cyberport, Aberdeen and Happy Valley.

Extending the Tung Chung Line to connect these points would create a viable MTR line with high patronage and reduce traffic congestion. Trains on this line are ideal for an extension with a few widely-separated stations, because the line has higher-speed rolling stock than on older MTR lines.

Extending the Tung Chung Line non-stop to Wan Chai, where there is a huge amount of platform space on two levels, would greatly increase the passenger usage of the Tung Chung Line and further reduce congestion at Admiralty and the stations on Nathan Road.

Adding a station in Happy Valley would serve both the racecourse and part of Causeway Bay. Let us solve problems, not demolish assets. After all, isn't rail intended to be the main solution for traffic problems?

Further extending Tung Chung Line to the south side of Hong Kong Island would not be a major engineering task.

There is currently lots of free space for high-quality bus, MTR and taxi transport interchanges in the Ocean Park area. This would offer renewed life to this attraction and better serve the needs of all southern district commuters. There would be a terminus at Cyberport. A tightly integrated minibus and taxi interchange, similar to the taxi stands at the Airport Express stations, would be established.
