Hi-tech solutions for improving air quality

Energy

In order to battle air pollution in Hong Kong, as raised by the article 'Pollution level in Central twice London reading' (South China Morning Post, March 15), we should advocate better technologies. Why not start importing private cars which can be run on liquid-petroleum gas? Or better yet, encourage the localisation of exciting new technologies such as Compressed Air Cars that have been designed and proved workable by the French company MDI..

One thing I cannot understand from the Cyberport and Pak Kok Shek Science Park ventures is that there is no visible use of sustainable technologies that are easily applicable, such as the installation of photovoltaic cells for energy production. More yet, fans could be installed in appropriate locations and powered by such photovoltaic cells to aid the dispersal of air pollutants.
