FINE jewellery manufacturer and wholesaler Rhine Holdings plans to work with the Agricultural Bank of China to explore the mainland market.
In revealing the move, company chairman David Chui Fat-chuen said discussions with the bank were still at a preliminary stage and that nothing concrete had been put in place.
Mr Chui said Rhine and the bank would co-operate to explore the potential for the jewellery market in China.
One possibility could be to use the bank's huge network on the mainland to sell Rhine Holdings-made gold coins and ornaments.
In 1992, Rhine's US exports amounted to 69 per cent of the company's total sales. But Europe, Japan and China were the markets he expected would contribute significantly to the company's growth.
