Singer-songwriter Susie Wilkins celebrates the release tomorrow of her debut album, Half Empty, with a live performance at the Fringe Club in Central. The venue is apt because the release is a compilation from three live shows she played there last November.

Wilkins' powerful vocals are ideally suited to her blend of modern blues and rock. An all-round performer, she also plays guitar and piano. Her album is being released on her own recently formed label, Rootless Records. Last year, Wilkins supported British pop group Supergrass at an Oxford University gig. She was born and raised locally and made her name on the local live circuit in the mid-to-late-1990s belting out covers of rock, blues and jazz staples. Wilkins later wrote her own songs and Half Empty is the fruits of that toil.

The album launch party begins at 10.30pm. Entry is free and CDs will be available for $100. For more information call 2526 4902.

Paradise Party has regularly been packing in about 1,000 clubbers for more than six years. The night is known as much for its DJs' acclaimed house music sets as its outrageous drag queen theatrics and is also popular with straight club-goers.
