A triad gang in Yuen Long that runs rackets ranging from armed robberies to smuggling has been crippled after an eight-month undercover investigation, according to police.

A large collection of weapons, including petrol bombs, knives, clubs and sharpened steel tubes, was seized in the raid.

Detectives say the operation was a severe blow to the 14K triad group in the district, with 26 suspects aged between 15 and 35 arrested, including four they described as 'calling the shots' in rackets in Yuen Long.

Investigators were last night still hunting several core members of the ring.

Detectives also said they believed the 14K faction that was targeted had links to an illegal soccer gambling syndicate run by the triad society which was broken up almost simultaneously in a raid on a flat in Ngau Tau Kok.
