THE Hongkong Hilton has appointed Phillipa Yule as public relations manager, Hongkong Hilton, and public relations manager, Hilton International Asia/Pacific. As well as handling the public relations for the Hongkong Hilton, Ms Yule will be responsible for co-ordinating the corporate public relations for the 20 hotels in the Asia-Pacific region. WARDLEY Investment Services Limited (WISL) has announced the appointment of Michael Gibbs-Harris as director of WISL (Hongkong). Mr Gibbs-Harris is primarily responsible for managing institutional pension accounts focusing on client investment services. He is a member of the asset allocation committee and involved in the business development of institutional accounts. Prior to joining WISL, Mr Gibbs-Harris was director of Capital House Investment Management (Asia) Ltd in Hongkong, specialising in stock selection and management of Hongkong pension funds and a Thai investment trust. SOPEXA has appointed Monique Pauly as managing director of its Hongkong office. The organisation is the French promotion and marketing board for agricultural and food products. From 1984 to 1990, Ms Pauly worked in Hongkong as commercial attache in charge of the food and beverage department at the French Trade Commission. She has arrived back in the territory to promote French food and wine in Hongkong, Taiwan and southern China. READER'S Digest Far East Co has announced the appointment of Longgen Chen as editor-in-chief, condensed books of Reader's Digest Association FarEast Ltd. Mr Chen will be responsible for overseeing the editing and translation of condensed books in the Chinese language, a new product line for Reader's Digest Far East. JACQUELINE Tong, former manager of marketing communications at the Hongkong Bank, has joined Leo Burnett Ltd as group account director. Ms Tong will be responsible for managing several accounts, including Standard Chartered Bank, Sterling Drugs, and Vitasoy. In addition to her retail marketing background, Ms Tong has nine years' experience in the advertising industry, both in media and account management. EDS Electronic Data Systems (EDS) has appointed Steven Leakey as director of marketing and business development for the Asia-Pacific region. Mr Leakey is a 22-year EDS veteran, whose career includes jobs in systems engineering, project and account management, and sales and market development. An aeronautical engineer, Mr Leakey spent four years with LTV Aerospace in Texas, specialising in scientific data processing tools. After joining EDS, he worked in both the life insurance and retail divisions before becoming involved in sales and sales management. SUN Hung Kai Properties Ltd has announced the promotion of Mok Chi-hung to manager of the building management departmentand the appointment of Au Man-to as manager of the corporate finance department. Since joining Hong Yip Services in 1980 (a subsidiary of Sun Hung Kai Properties), Mr Mok has been engaged in property management of the company. Mr Au is responsible for arranging financing and banking facilities for the company. He graduated from the University of London and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. BOYDEN International has announced the appointment of Michael Whelan as a director.
