Porsche designs are always stylish and functional and its latest effort - a liquid crystal display (LCD) monitor created for Samsung - is no exception.
The unique looking Samsung 151P monitor embraces everything a modern LCD monitor should have - 1,024x768 pixel resolution, power-saving mode, and landscape and portrait viewing. It was a winner of this year's Industrie Forum Design Awards.
Unlike many other models' dull ivory or white casings, the Samsung monitor is a real eye-catcher with its silver front and black back.
A carry handle at the back is a thoughtful design item that makes it easy to move about. It is not a great innovation, but it is highly convenient.
The monitor has a touch-screen control panel, enabling users to make adjustments for brightness, contrast and display positions with just a soft touch on the control keys.
The unit has dual analogue and digital signal inputs and so can be used in present analogue signal processing and will be ready for future digital processing with the digital visual interface (DVI).
A conventional 15-inch LCD or cathode ray tube monitor usually requires about 30 watts of power in working mode. The 151P uses only 25 watts and three watts in energy saving mode.
