TV's football crazy

SCMP Reporter

On a recent trip to Hong Kong I had the opportunity to watch some of the first World Cup games on cable. I was particularly dismayed by the quality of commentators the cable company has retained, who provide a commentary in Cantonese. These people displayed little knowledge of football, and were totally unable to offer the sort of intelligent analysis you get elsewhere in the world.

From their choice of attire, wild screams, and rude comments on teams and players they don't like, they reminded one of football hooligans. These people give football a bad name, and Cable TV should replace them with knowledgeable and analytical gentlemen and ladies.
