Canto-pop star Nicholas Tse Ting-fung will appear in Western Court today accused of plotting to pervert the course of justice by allowing his driver to claim he was at the wheel of the star's Ferrari when it crashed in March.
The Independent Commission Against Corruption yesterday jointly charged Tse, 21, and police constable Lau Chi-wai, 28, with one count of conspiracy to pervert the course of public justice between March 23 and April 12 this year.
The pair were said to have allowed Shing Kwok-ting, a former driver for Tse's record company, to falsely present himself, in place of Tse, as the driver of the Ferrari involved in a traffic accident in Cotton Tree Drive on March 23.
Shing, 34, was jailed for four months after pleading guilty last month to one count of conspiring to pervert the course of justice with Constable Lau.
Tse and Lau were told about the charge against them when they reported back to the ICAC headquarters yesterday.
When confronted by reporters outside the building, Tse's father, veteran actor Patrick Tse Yin, said: 'I am not afraid to tell you that he [Tse] will appear in court tomorrow so he can't talk now.'
