The discount rate for the coming batch of Home Ownership Scheme flats will be lowered from 40 per cent to 30 per cent, the lowest in 12 years, according to a government source.
In late July, 2,435 scheme flats, priced from $1.13 million to $1.72 million, will be offered for sale.
It will be the first sale since a moratorium was lifted last week.
Lei On Court, phase one, in Lam Tin; Yu Chui Court, phase two, in Sha Tin; and Ka Keng Court, in Tai Wai, will be sold at average prices of $1,915, $1,710 and $1,740 per square foot respectively.
'It has always been our policy to adjust our discount rate amid fluctuations of property prices in the market. We believe it is in the best interests of buyers,' the source said.
The source said the price was determined by the affordability level of potential applicants after allowing for falls in property prices in the previous two months.
