Christy Chung Lai-tai has a new lover - rock star Sting. But the affair will be short-lived and played out in Peter Greenaway's forthcoming trilogy The Tulse Luper Suitcase.

The trilogy, covering the life of writer Luper, will feature 92 major characters with a cast reading like a Who's Who of international stars including Sting, Madonna, Kristin Scott-Thomas, Franka Potente, Isabella Rossellini, David Thewlis, Vincent Gallo, Kathy Bates and Deborah Harry.

Chung (above) will play Sting's lover from Hong Kong in the first instalment.The Canadian-born star was spotted by Greenaway in her controversial naked performance in Thai film Jan Dara in which she played a seductress. Chung will start shooting her part in August. She will feature more prominently in the third instalment, to be shot next year in Hong Kong. 'It's a very interesting script,' she said. 'I've always admired Peter Greenaway and his films and I really look forward to working with him.'

The first film, The Early Years, is expected to have its premiere at the Berlin Film Festival next February, the second, Vaux To Sea, at the Cannes Film Festival next May and the third, From Sark To Finish, at the Venice International Film Festival. There is also a 16-episode television series planned.
