Vienna (June 30): Austrian philatelists, who have been studying a stamp found by a woman in an old leather-bound book, claimed to-day that Austria invented and first used postage stamps.

The claim is based on a letter dated 1839 found by an old woman 15 years ago in a book in her library.

Britain claims that her 1840 penny black and 2d. blue are the world's first adhesive stamps.
