In a landmark deal, Hong Kong-based software firm Core Solutions has enlisted anti-virus specialist Symantec to add Internet security management capabilities to its e-business system.
The partnership is the first of its kind for Symantec.
Under the agreement, Core Solutions will license Symantec's CarrierScan Server programme as part of its flagship software product iDEX 3.5 - an electronic transaction management platform.
Symantec's senior vice-president for worldwide sales and professional services, Dieter Giesbrecht, said: 'This is the first time Symantec will integrate Internet security technology to an e-business management system, and we intend to make our key technologies part of other vital enterprise applications.'
Organisations could improve existing security functions and minimise the impact of virus attacks by integrating a security framework to support their e-business applications.
'It's an approach whose time has come,' he said.
