AWT World Transport saw net profits motor up 71 per cent to $22.8 million for the year to March 31, fuelled by mainland demand for freight-forwarding services. This is only marginally ahead of the $22.3 million forecast in the listing prospectus issued in January. Earnings per share were 16.9 cents, compared with 10.4 cents in the previous year. Directors are recommending a dividend of 1.8 cents. Chairman and managing director Alfred Lam King-ko said air freight-forwarding remained AWT's core business with a turnover of $225 million and will sustain growth in the coming years.
