Recently I had the chance to walk along Peak Road in Cheung Chau and think about the controversy surrounding a full-sized fire engine which the government wants to use in this small but densely-populated village community. I wonder how many trees will have to be cut down to make way for the road-widening works, which will replace the trees with shotcrete slopes.

Why can't the Fire Services Department just use small-sized vehicles like those seen in Tai O village?
But of course government departments prefer to set their own priorities rather than listen to public opinion.
I feel for the affected residents of Cheung Chau.
