I would like to express my annoyance at ESPN's coverage of the British Open on Cable TV's Channel 7.
The constant interruptions for self- promotions became quite unbearable.
For example, the crucial second shot by Ernie Els on the 16th hole during the final round was missed completely because the station failed to return us to the action quickly enough after yet another promo for Major League Basketball or Baseball, the English Premier League, the Tour de France, or some silly nonsense involving ESPN presenters themselves. And roll on August 7 when we will no longer be invited to attend a charity dinner in Singapore.
ESPN, the 'world's leader in sports, 24 hours a day?' Maybe, but 12 of those hours are for telling us how wonderful they are - at least it seems that way.
